Michels & Lew Attorney, Elizabeth Hernandez

Elizabeth Hernandez

Elizabeth A. Hernandez is an Associate Attorney at Michels & Lew who is deeply committed to charitable work, giving back to the community and helping others in need. Elizabeth began her charitable work during her college years at UCLA and hasn’t slowed down since. She started with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to seriously ill children, and participated as a Team in Training triathlete to raise funds for leukemia research.

Elizabeth has served as a board member of the Evelyn Grace Foundation for more than five years. The Foundation has several goals: it raises funds for pediatric cancer research at the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital, it increases awareness to help families who have children with cancer, it helps the community understand the dire need for and importance of cord blood donations, and it delivers “Evie’s Bundles of Love” to pediatric patients and their devoted families in California hospitals.

Evie’s Bundles of Love consists of helpful items and gifts, including children’s robes, blankets, stuffed animals, tote bags, infant hoodies, journals for parents, gas cards, reading lights, toys, Target gift cards, hand knitted hats, and most importantly, a personal hand written note of love and encouragement from Evelyn. The Bundles of Love are so very important and appreciated because they provide love, comfort and help to familes during the children’s cancer treatments. On one occasion over fifty Bundles of Love were delivered to numerous hospitals in California and South Carolina. Amongst other duties, Elizabeth helps in various fundraising efforts including one in which The UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital received more than $10,000 in donations for a genome sequencing project.

Elizabeth also helps others by donating her time and formidable legal skills to the community. She is active in the following:

Consumers Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA) – for more than ten years Elizabeth has been a board member. She is presently the Co-Chair of the Education Committee and on the CAOC’s committees. Member, Judicial Endorsement Committee of the Mexican American Bar Association (MABA), which vets judicial candidates seeking MABA’s endorsement. Application reviews, reference-checking, candidate interviews and research are some of Elizabeth's many responsibilities. Michels & Lew is extremely proud of Elizabeth’s ceaseless work and selfless efforts. She is an inspiration to all of us and a prime example of how one person can uplift the community - and the world.
